Video Game Reviews of Digimon World 2Customer Review: For Digimon fanatics and people who liked Wild Arms Summary: 4 StarsI got to say, when I saw this game when my little stepbro rented it, I thought it was going to be the same thing as the original Digi-World game, which got boring in a hurry. Thankfully, this game doesn't disappoint. Although it suffers in a few key areas, it's still a fun game to try out, and maybe even buy.Graphics - Since you need to see most of what is going on in the domains, the dungeons in DW2, and know what color floor makes your Digimon and their opponents stronger, the graphics don't disappoint. Vibrant colors and pictures render out the other half of the graphics department. They scored big on here. Sure, the domains look just about exactly the same, but you'll be too busy trying to find your way through the sometimes massive levels that you won't even notice it. 5/5 Controls - Almost PERFECT!! The menu-driven menus, commonplace in today's RPGs (except for Final Fantasy fans, who should feel spoiled right now), are easy to get through, and veryeasy to find what you need to find. The overworld would've been better if you could've moved in all directions, however. It would've been really better if this game took advantage of the Dual Shock's abilities, which it doesn't. 4/5 Gameplay - Bandai, learning that just about no one wants to see a Digimon go to the bathroon ANYWHERE on the game, and have the remains STAY there throughout, focused more on the actually battling and digivolving of the game. They have also given players MUCH more control of what the Digimon chooses for the battles. And they Digivolve the RIGHT way, and you know what you are going to get BEFORE you go and Digivole or DNA Digivolve them. Furthermore, you can have more than one Digimon at a time, when you were only allowed one in the first DW, and you had to fight like HELL to get that to NOT Digivolve into an awful Numeron (who, by the way, can kick your Digimon's [bottom] now if you aren't careful). Players will have to devote ALOT of time into this game, which helps into the fun factor. The battles, for some reason, play an awful lot like the battles that Wild Arms, a PS masterpiece of a game, did, and the rest of the game plays much the same. Sure, the main storyline will possibly be linear, but the sub-stories that go along with it will keep you interested. 5/5 Music - For some reason, the battle theme caught on to me. It was really well done, from my estimation. They could've done some work on the dungeon musics, however, and they could've also made the Meditation Dome's music less annoying. Other than that, it a high score. 4/5 Fun Factor - Just about perfect. The story is linear, but you probably won't have enough time to notice from all the sub-plots, Digimon-catching/Digivolving, and other things that you can do here. 4/5 Challenge - This is something I don't rate, because although it may be geared for younger kids, the challenge in this game will also occupy the minds of older gamers that want to get a good RPG to play. It'll keep you playing for hours on end. Overall - Sure, the plot is very indifferent, but the many sub-plots aren't. This isn't going to win best game of the year awards, but at the same time, it isn't going to win worst game of the year awards either. This is one of those fun games that, unfortuantly, will find itself overshadowed by games like Final Fantasy. However, Digimon fans will NOT be disappointed by this offering, and neither will true-to-heart RPG fans, and people who got into Wild Arms and it's gameplay will find NO trouble picking up this one. 4/5
Customer Review: Its Good, But... Summary: 5 StarsIt's a lot like Dragon Warrior Monsters. In DWM, you can have up to 3 monsters at a time. Just like DGmon World 2. When you DNADGvolve on DGmon World 2, you breed monsters on DWM. It really is a lot like DWM, which makes me think this is a cool game.
Customer Review: BOOOOOOO Summary: 1 StarsI like digimon just a little..but this game [is bad].Way to pokemon! You capture digimon, travel around and once they had this thing that said"I am the greatest digimon master!"It stinks. Also i hate season 2!(except for blackwargreymon and DNA digivolving)
Customer Review: The Sequel Summary: 4 StarsWhy?? In Digimon World 2, Bandai took out the fun and adventure of exploring the Digital World. Instead, you get to explore in little "Domains" which are amusing at first, but VERY, VERY, reapeative, and it gets more boring as it goes on, because the levels get harder and harder. And the Domains have very bad graphics, and the music - blech. And the battles don't help, either. At first, the attacks are fun to look at (the only good thing about it is that they are said in Japanese, and it is fun to see how they sound), but then you realize they used the same attacks for different Digimon, only different colors. And after a while, the battles get really long. But you could compare it to the original Digimon World. No more digipoops, and no more feeding your Digimon. Also, you get to befriend Digimon and you can let them join your group. That's a plus. And, it features a wide variety of Digimon - not just 61, like the original, but 182 Digimon. But if you're a fan of the anime, you'll be unhappy to note that it contains only four Season 2 Digimon - Veemon, Flamedramon, Raidramon, and Imperialdramon. But if you just like traditional RPGs, then you won't mind the fact that Digimon from Season 2 are missing. But even if you're an RPG player, you can't argue that this game also suffers from a bad storyline. It's just Domains, Domains, Domains, more Domains - and fighting boss Digimon - which can get VERY annoying if you lose to the boss, because you'll have to go all the way to the bottom of the Domain again. There is something I like. The tournaments. There are about 8 tournaments and they get harder each time. The final tournament you get to face the Guard Leaders. That's a plus. Also, you have the ability to DNA Digivolve (no, not where two Digimons merge to create a more powerful form, but a weaker form that can digivolve to a more powerful higher form). You'll probably enjoy doing that. But if you don't like the sound of this review, then you can wait for Digimon World 3, coming Summer 2002 - for a guaranteed better game.
Customer Review: O.K Summary: 5 StarsI would just like to say that this game is quite good and will keep you amused for a long peroud of time. i have played the first version of this game (Digimon world) and i must say that this is much better because you can choose what digimon you want.
