I can't speak for huge hockey fans how realistic it is because i am not a big fan myself. But when it comes to sports video games, i always find the hockey ones to be the most fun and this game is definitely good in that respect. I play the all star level with maximum game speed and no penalties and it makes the action non stop and exciting. The ridiculous amount of checking is awesome and i don't see any problem with a high scoring game. The announcers get to me because you can be winning 6-2 against the computer (say they are the penguins) and if they get a flurry of shots going, the announcers say stuff like "the penguins have taken control of the game" which doesn't make much sense to me. For a cheap hockey game on an outdated console, this does the trick for sure.
