I know those are big words but I think I have the best memories of great games on this system than any other. There are just so many amazing games for it. I like the original version of the ps1 better than the smaller version ( I have both). It happens to be my favorite looking system also. I could go on and on about the reasons I love this system but I'll keep it short and sweet. Amazing variety of games: rpgs, action, sports, puzzlers, simulation, stealth action, etc. Maybe in 10 years my favorite system will be the xbox 360 but for now its the ps1.Customer Review: A Classic by Sony that never grows old

The Sony Playstation with a lifecycle of 1995-2000 is a system that is best well known for making itself well known by introducing Final Fantasy 7 and thus making people wanting to purchase the system. The playstation is known for rpgs, adventures, and some interesting platformers. This is and subsequently the PS2 was what made Sony's game division compete with Nintendo and Sega and thus became a well known household name. I remember when getting this and the Nintendo 64 that I was playing this more although the N64 did have good games, I was able to play some interesting games that I still play today. Also playing not only the Final Fantasy series games but also games such as Tomb Raider, Crash games, and even the Cool Boarder's games. It is a fantastic system and if anyone get around the 32-bit graphics (256-bit now) and like games because of story and gameplay, this is definitely a system that a person should buy if they like to play classic games.Customer Review: PS1

Weird, the 1 star one seem to all be based on seller feedback.
Anyway, this is an excellent console. I recommend it, though you could just as easily get a PS2.
However, if you want the original, buy it.
