Video Game Reviews of WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your RoleCustomer Review: SmackDown 2 Lays The Smack-eth Down! Summary: 5 StarsSmackDown! 2 is, in a word, GLORIOUS! The graphics are incredible, the move system is easy to get into (consult an online FAQ, or the Create-A-Wrestler's "Edit Moves" area rather than the instructions, to clearly understand the move situations, as the instruction booklet makes it so complicated-looking), and the music rules!I DID have a few problems though: 1. Quite a few times, when you edit your created wrestler's moveset, the game ACTUALLY freezes on you, dumping ALL your hard work...this in SmackDown 3) 2. I DO wish that the videos were longer and that you DIDN'T have to give your created wrestler "Stone Cold Special" as your winning taunt just to hear the "full" music. (THQ has ALSO fixed this in SD3) 3. Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Billy Gunn can't be put in a Championship ranking. 4. You need to use a GameShark to access unfinished characters Big Show and Ken Shamrock; to access certain Trons (like Bull Buchanan; the Crash & Hardcore video; and the SD1 version of XPac, deceptively titled "RAW is WAR") 5. You can't edit arenas like in Attitude (they STILL haven't fixed it, maybe in SD4...and there WILL be an SD4, I guaran-damn-TEE it!) 6. They should have switched this BGMs here with those from No Mercy on the N64. (they still haven't improved) 8. The Hell in a Cell is CRAP! This is a stellar game that should be played, despite the little bugs. By all means, BUY THIS GAME (screwups notwithstanding)!
Customer Review: Fantastic season mode, dozens of wrestlers and match types Summary: 4 StarsThis is THQ?s fifth wrestling game for the Playstation. Since the original wrestling game they have come a long way, as now there are dozens of wrestlers like Steve Austin, the Rock, the Undertaker, Mankind and the Hardy Boyz featured in the game, but there are also dozens of match types, like ladder matches, casket matches, cage matches, table matches, tag team matches, handicapped matches, iron man matches, guest referee matches and so on! Another fantastic thing about the game are the details, like videos that play when wrestlers to come down to the ring. There are several different arenas to wrestle in, anything from the Smackdown and Raw arenas to Wrestlemania and Judgement Day (pay-per-view) arenas! The fans are also so detailed, they hold up signs based on who is wrestling in the current match. With all of that out of the way, the ?season? mode is the best thing about the game. With a season mode, you chose a wrestler (you can chose a different wrestler during the season) and play an entire continuous year of WWF action. Wrestling week-by-week working your way up the ladder to the seven different WWF championships. There are even story lines to follow in the season, such as injuries, run-ins and the evil plots of the WWF?s owner Vince McMahon!
Customer Review: The WWF That Beats Them All! Summary: 5 StarsThis game has got it all including special moves like:The stunner, the worm, and even the bronco buster. If you like WWF:No Mercy or Smackdown! You will most definetly like SmackDown!2:No Your Role. Great graphics, awesome moves, and even Battle Royal. This definetly deserves a 5 star ranking. It Rocks!!!
Customer Review: The Best Wrestling game on PS1 Summary: 5 StarsThis is the coolest wrestling game game THQ has ever made excluding the new SMACKDOWN 3 - JUST BRING IT. No Mercy stinks compared to SM2. Why? Here's why. The graphics may not be as good and not much texture but then,... what do you expect? It's PS1. The loading time is pretty slow but there are poster pictures of Superstars with their signatures on the backround. The game is missing the biggest superstar in the WWF. Where's the Big Show? You gotta create him? What? Yep, that's what I said, you gotta create him. At least that's what I think. They are also missing something else from SM1, Pre-season. But wait, the season mode makes up for everything. The story lines are exactly like on TV. But that way your created superstar gets a smaller chance of getting a title shot. Too bad. Well, enough about the bad things. Ther are 10000's of new features. More matches than No Mercy. You can do what Jeff does. Yep. In a TLC match you can throw your opponent on the table when he is dizzy, climb up the ladder and do the Swaton bomb off the top of the ladder crushing the opponent and the table. KO. You win. Or spear somebody from the top of the ladder like Edge. Hahaha! To make things better you can put the opponent on the commentary table, climb up the Heck in a Cell and do a moonsault off it. When you choke toss the opponent he will fly out of the ring. The Create a Superstar has 2 modes. 1. Standard like SM1 2. Advanced like Attitude The gameplay is faster than SM1. The backstage is so big that I got lost the 1st time I played. You can unlock a secret place which is WWF NEW YORK. You know, where Micheal Cole hosts SUNDAY NIGHT heAT. Yeah. There is a kitchen where you can do the rock bottom through the steel tables or get hit by a car outside the streets of NY. Ahhh, too much cool things in this game to write about. Oh, oh you can drive a lift-car and crash into your opponent. And Rikishi does his Stink-face and the Undertaker does the last ride and you can look at your moves being done on a 3D character when choosing your moves. You can climb up to the top of the cage and do a bodyslam on your opponent. Tou can win Mike Cole, Cactus Jack, Mick Foley and some other people who look like other wrestlers from ECW, WCW, commentators from the WWF like THE KING. Kurt Angle unfortunately does not do his Anklelock. BOOOOOOOOO. Well I will stop now since I'm getting tired writing all this but I hope this review will help you. So JUST BUY IT ! If you smeeeellll la la la la what the rock,......is cookin!
Customer Review: pretty good but not enough for a true WWF fan Summary: 4 StarsThis is a very impresive game for the PS. Good graphics, good gameplay, and very addictive. There are many flaws though. One is that there is no commontary. Second is that there is all of these old wrestlers that dont wrestle any more like Mark Henry, Gangrel, Viscera, and about half of the others. Another is that you should be able to control your charactor when he/she is not in a match in season. I hate how weapons dont do any damage. I mean punching your opponent hurts them more than a ladder. the last thing is you cant go into the audience and the audience looks like animated cardboard cut-outs. There are so many more but they are smaller things that arent really noticable when you play. I am not trying to tell you not to get this game but there are just so many problems that THQ just ignored. There is one thing i forgot. they should really make BLEEMcast for this game.
